Beyond the boundaries of The Cosmic Sea lies a swirling maze of possibility and chaos known only as The Beyond. While many mages and scholars have long debated the true extent and origin of the enigmatic realm, what is known is that it has born many nightmarish creatures that have plagued Ancient and mortal kind since the early days of the First Age. This includes both the brain eating Illithids, and the hyper-intelligent, mysterious Aboleth.
In its task of protecting the realms from evil and effects of each other, The Barrier of Providence also expands to the boundaries of the Cosmic Sea, but some speculate as to its effectiveness against such an unknown entity.
