The Elder Ones

"You will be more than you have ever been... and when the time comes, for what we grant you... you will serve us well..."

The Elder Ones are terrible abominations that seemingly rival the power of the Ancients. Presumed to be the leaders, or possibly even creators, of the abberations from the Beyond such as the Illithid and Aboleth, the Elder Ones served as one of the primary adversaries of the Ancients during the First Age. According to surviving First Age doctrine, the Elder One's ultimate goal is to corrupt the Realms of the Cosmic Sea into becoming similar to their Beyond, and are responsible for the exodus of the race the Yonder.
Some scholars contend that the Elder Ones may have a hidden morality or understanding beyond mortal comprehension. There have been recorded instances of Elder Ones presumably granting mortals powers and aid in times of need, but many believe there is always an underlying, sinister reason. Regardless, all scholars agree the Elder Ones are powerful, mysterious, and possess a degree of influence over the Cosmic Sea despite existing outside of its borders.
