Everdawn Sovereignty

Overview

Everdawn is a vast and ancient elven nation nestled within the verdant embrace of the Sil’sen Forest. Renowned for its rich history, magical integration into society, and intricate political landscape, Everdawn stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the elven race. Situated at the confluence of mystical energies, the nation exudes an aura of enchantment and wonder.

Politics

Everdawn's governance is a unique blend of regal hierarchy and democratic deliberation. Ruled by the enigmatic Abiding Council, comprised of the eldest elven lords and ladies, the nation is divided into distinct territories, each overseen by a regnant house. The Abiding Council's decisions are far-reaching, influencing the allocation of power among the ruling houses and the delicate balance of Everdawn's internal affairs.

Culture

The elven society of Everdawn is steeped in a rich magical tradition, intertwined with reverence for the Elven Pantheon, the Elvanti. Magic flows in the veins of every inhabitant, fostering a deep connection to the land and its mystical energies. The ever-present worship of the Elvanti and Valneti deities shapes rituals, festivities, and the overall cultural identity. Elven longevity allows the inhabitants to amass profound knowledge and wisdom, which they share through art, music, and the telling of timeless tales.

Geography

Everdawn's breathtaking landscape showcases the harmonious coexistence of nature and elven craftsmanship. The Sil’sen Forest, home to towering trees, luminescent glades, and hidden enclaves, forms the heart of the nation. Diverse regions like the Platinum Crest Mountains, the Sil'sen Elderwood Forests, Kesdireen's bustling ports, and the ethereal Feyjin add to the tapestry of Everdawn's geography.

History

Everdawn's history is as old as the Sil’sen Forest itself. The elves who founded the first towns and cities here also brought with them the Elderwood Trees from the Fey Realm which quickly sprouted into the magical lush elven forest it is today. The refugee Astralborn Elves from the Yalhan Sovereignty, uniting the elven houses under a common banner, sought refuge here and discovered the Elf Kin had already made homes here calling it Sil'sen. Through eras marked by arcane discoveries, alliances, and cultural flourishes, Everdawn rose to prominence. The aftermath of the War of the Shroud, fought against nefarious forces, solidified the unity among the houses. Presently, the nation stands at a crossroads, with the Abiding Council's decisions shaping the future as old and new tensions converge.

In its essence, Everdawn remains a realm of enchantment, where elven magic, ancient traditions, and intricate politics intermingle, creating a world both captivating and mysterious.

Structure

The Elven society of Everdawn is ruled by the Abiding Council and the Inheritance Gatherings.

Each of the Elven Rulers of their respective city-states are called Regnants. Regnants assemble when summoned by the Abiding Council. When these assemblies are called, they are referred to as the Inheritance Gatherings, for they believe they are the Inheritance of the Astralborn Elves. Each of the 5 Territories rotate the meetings of the Abiding Council. The Abiding Council decides which family gets to rule which City.

Abiding Councilmembers

The heads of the Abiding Council are the eldest 3 elven Lords and Ladies which have governed the lands the longest. Currently, they are Iolath Nathall, The Protector of Sil’sen, the oldest and most powerful. He rules from his ancestral home of Fey's Keep on the Lunar Throne. The second longest reigning is Lyntross Ulatris I, the Thorn of Everdawn. He rules from Everdawn City from the Rose Throne where his family has ruled for a thousand years. Septher Blackthorn, The Lady of the Twelve Stars, who rules the Wood Elf Blackthorn family from Barkspeak by the Willowweave Crown.

Regnant

Within the Elven cities of Everdawn, each city is governed by a Regnant. The Regnant of a city may never be an Abiding Councilmember. So families must choose their seats and prospects wisely. Choosing to be a Regnant means that you put the priority of your city and family above all else, but to be an Abiding Councilmember, you must put the needs of all Elves, Everdawn and the Sil’sen Forest first.

Court and Noble Traditions

Traditions within the Elven Courts are many. The Regnants of the cities are the heads, each Regnant has a Stewardship. Each Stewardship has 6 positions, to ensure that if a council is ever divided, the Regnant will still have the ultimate sway. The positions are:
Steward of the Arcane.
Steward of Tradition.
Steward of the Elvanti
Steward of Coin
Steward of Order
Steward of the Uncourth

Culture

Much of Elven society over the tens of thousands of years of tradition has evolved itself around its understanding of magic, and its relationship with the gods. Many worship the Elven Pantheon of gods known as the Elvanti, some even worship its darker aspect, the Valneti. Some Elven families and cities could focus on specific aspects and deities, however. Elves have a great understanding of magical lore, histories, and the histories of the gods even when they are not a part of their pantheons and histories because of their long lives.

Elves are very magical. At their very base they understand magic better than humans. Many elves trace their history either to the Elf Kin of the Elderlands, also called the lands of the Fairy, or the Astralborn Elves who founded the Yalhan Sovereignty thousands of years ago.

History

The Elves themselves call Everdawn by a different name when speaking to their own kind, Sil’sen, for that was the name which was given by their ancestors. It is rumored that a contingent of the Yalhan Sovereignty and the Astralborn Elves founded Everdawn over 4,000 years ago.

Yorv’l and Wyvern’s Crest used to be cities controlled by the Elves until the harshness of the winter took it approximately 2,000 years ago. Yorv’l and Wyvern’s Crest were both joint ventures by Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, and Dragonborn to explore the far north and combat evils that rose in the ice. Once the harsh winters and weather took over, the Elves gave control to the Dwarven Nation. The Astralborn Elves mingled with the other races and eventually split into High Elves, Wood Elves, and other various lineages. Wood Elves saw the Astralborn and the High Elves as those who wish to destroy the beauty of nature and it’s magic, but eventually learned to coexist with various treaties and agreements.
