Ichabod Althaeus ((IK-ah-BOD AHLTH-ay-US))
Lord Ichabod Althaeus is rumored to be the most cunning vampire in the world. Rumors surround this borderline mythical figure of histories of raising armies, experimenting on the undead, driving the elves from the mountains of Mordovn to Ice Haven and Everdawn. Many attribute various dark magic rituals, cult practices, and the intimate knowing of the dark arts to this one central villain throughout the history of the world. In other nations and continents, he is known as the Forebear of Darkness, the Father of Corruption.
His true history is shrouded in mystery. He has been summoned by many magical councils to seek out first hand accounts of historical events he has witnessed, as well as magic knowledge he has been privvy to in his age. He has been a reclusive being for the recorded past several hundred years. He is the Lord of Mordov'n. The people of the land are said to be able to come and go freely, but citizens of the realm rarely venture out from the locality.
Few facts are certain from the recorded histories. Recorded in the Annals of Everdawn, a renowned low born warrior was taken off his feet by an elf of a noble bloodline, Naya Ulatris.

Personal history
In the Annals of Everdawn, all historical accounts point to Althaeus being a subject of the House Ulatris, in those days, they had many subjects ranging from humans, elves, halflings, and many other races. Historical records don’t reveal his name, so it is believed he used to be known by another name, which has long been lost to time. The historical scholarly consensus is that Ichabod was a soldier bound to the Ulatris family. During his time as a soldier, he volunteered to be experimented on by the Farmantle mages, and the Yalhan Remnant trying to find new ways of reintroducing magic to the realm. During this war, fought on many different Planes, was where he got his combat skills, political savvy, and magical prowess. At the time, they were fighting the Azure Conquerors, a magical warband attempting to take control of Vesnya and certain powerful sites across the multiverse.
During the waning years of the war, the Farmantle Mages were losing ground quickly. Their desperation resulted in morally questionable rituals and experiments. It is believed Ichabod was a subject of these magical torments. Records of these horrific times are logged in the Accounts of the Desperate Trials of the Farmantle, their subjects were tortured with arcane means, mentally, physically, and soulfully. The desperate arcane rituals and experiments varied in wide ranges from attempting to meld magic with the physical matter of the subjects, to having some of these subjects be forced to commit atrocities against other creatures, and even bind themselves to unnatural blood pacts with various powers of good and evil. It is believed that during this time Ichabod met Naya. She was acting as a healer of those who fought for the fallen Yalhan Sovereignty. Historians report this was a match doomed from the start, as Naya was betrothed to a member of House Ivyss, and the bright beauty of the elves could never comingle with the darkness of a child of the night like a vampire. However, it was here she mended his wounds, and treated him. After much talking and convincing, Naya flattered the newly dark creature and saw him home. When she tried to come back he would not let her. Eventually, she did escape, and became the emmisary for Ice Haven to Mordov'n.
The Town of Mordv'n Decades after the fall of the Yalhan Sovereignty, rumors grew of a castle in the north of Vesnya, in the Platinum Crest mountains north of the Whitewater Shroud and Woodland Run, people calling the land Mordov'n and the castle the Chateau. Rumors spread of a vampire lord helping the local village fend off against the magical monsters that lurked there. Eventually magical beasts began to wander out of the land. The Elves began to assume dark magic was being performed there.
It was at this time that the Elven historians chronicle the events of the theft of the Ice Haven's Tiara, a precious jewel which was loaned to Ichabod by the humble Crown of Ice Haven, Hastios Ulatris, Naya's father. Upon the completion of the task which Ichabod required of it, scholars believe it to be some magical ritual, Hastios requested it back to help assist the elves to rebuild after the Night of Weeping Mothers, where much of Everdawn was sacked by the Dark Elves from below and much of the Ulatris family was murdered. However, upon receiving the request for the tiara, Ichabod burned with anger as he took it as an insult, and said he was called a petty thief. It was then that Ichabod mustered his dark armies and covered the land in darkness. This became known as the War of Fifty Years of Night. Ichabod warred against the elves of Everdawn, however he dared not travel to Ice Haven, where historians believed that Naya was raising her newly orphaned niece and nephew, the heirs to House Ulatris. They also believe the power of the Tiara of Ice Haven would not work against its own city.
After fifty years of relentless war, savage attacks, and attempted talks of peace, the War of Fifty Years of Night ended, when a member of the House of Ivyss poisoned Naya in her home, and sent Ichabod proof of her death. Ichabod placed a curse upon the House of Ivyss, that it shall always want and never have. And it has remained so to this day.
Historians believe that Ichabod remains in Mordov'n, ruling the land there in mourning for the loss of the one with whom could never love him back.
