Rumpelstiltskin (RUM-pel-STILT-skin)
Rumpelstiltskin or "Rumpel", the Gilded Gremlin, Lord of the Repugnant Rascals, Second Guardian of the Phantasmal Mistwoods. He is the right hand to Queen Mab of the UnSeelie Court. He is known for his dark magic prowess, his knowing of any secrets in the courts due to his spies, his ability to see people's true motives, and negotiate anything into a contract that he wants. It has been reported he also has the ability to capture souls and put them into objects, and has mastery over occult magic. His major political power is in his ability to be a spymaster. He is cunning and tricky, he is a master of illusions and riddles. He is lord of the Phantasmal Mistwoods in the Argent Reach where he lives with his consort, Lady Hexy Spiralgrove, and his court of Gremlins.
Rumpel's reputation as a master of contracts, spies, and occult magic and his ability to see people's true motives, has made him a valuable ally to the Winter Queen, Lady Mab. He serves as a valuable advisor and negotiator to her, and his services are highly sought after in the Fey realm.
His signature equipment is a Golden Whip with a secret name. It is said that only he knows the name and therefore only he can control it. It is known amongst the Fey by many names, but most know it as the Golden Whip, the Gremlin’s Whip, or Rumpelstiltskin’s Retribution. He has many magical powers, some rumor, some fact, and some which lie in between. However, it is unknown which of his powers are granted by this whip and which powers he naturally has.
It seems he garnered power by making deals with hags of the fae realm and doing what few rarely do: fulfill the contracts which they negotiate. It is said that he gained fortune, fame, and a vast wealth of contacts and contracts within the entirety of the realm. It was rumored that he had dealings with the Hags of the coven of the Anguishing Aunties.
Rumors of his genesis of power is speculative, but there are a few events in history which most have heard of. Lord Rumpelstiltskin had been a member of a minor fae court of Spring, the Thicket Court, a gathering of powerful fae at the base of the Cottler’s Glistening Peaks, a large mountain range in the realm of the Fae. It was said he defeated the champion giant Bermonch who had been plaguing the thicket court, then in the parading of his triumph, he kidnapped the Lord of the Thespian Thicket’s daughter, Hexy, and took her to Argent Reach where they remain to this day. It is said that he had tricked the great lord into stealing Hexy away and stealing his money as well due to a subclause in a contract he had negotiated.
Rumpel is a cunning and tricky individual, and he is a master of illusions and riddles. He is a perfect representation of the Fey realm, as everything is logical and illogical with him simultaneously. He has many servants and spies throughout every fae court in the fae realm, and he is able to keep a close eye on the happenings of the courts. He is known for his ability to keep secrets, event to his own detriment if it fits his overall goals. It is said he is able to keep secrets that would shock even the most powerful of the Fae. His spies are also called the Eyes of Winter.
Those within the Crepusculent Rascals report that he is deeply in love with Hexy and cares for her deeply. He often uses his magical abilities and cunning to make her happy and to protect her from any harm. His love for her is genuine and he will do anything to make her happy.
