Arch-Necromancer William Bracus
Arch-Necromancer William Bracus (a.k.a. Thanotos)
The crossbowmen pointed their crossbows at William, as he held Catalyn in his arms, a bolt piercing her chest. Harold grabbed Horus by his armor and pushed him against the walls of the church.
"You told me she would be safe. You said nothing would happen to her!" he yelled, feeling the need to draw his sword.
Horus looked down at Harold, no mercy appearing in his eyes, "She tried to save him; therefore, she is a traitor, and Endolia does not tolerate traitors."
"Damn you, von Kurts!" Harold pulled out his dagger. "I hope the daemons and devils take your family and torture them for all eternity."
"Don't tell me you're siding with that creature over there," Horus gestured to William, whose cries were audible now. "That thing is not even human. It doesn't deserve to live for what it practices. It-"
Suddenly, the two paladins heard screams. They turned to see one of the crossbowmen being lifted up into the air. His comrades tried to pull him down, but it was no use. Then, everyone saw all of his limbs pushed into his body, and his body slowly crunch under some unknown force. Blood splattered everywhere, the face of the crossbowman was contorted into a scream, as it hung loosely from the lump of flesh that used to be his body.
Everyone stared at William, who was holding Catalyn close and as his cries were becoming more and more audible. Finally, he spoke,
"Fine then," grief, hated, and pain gripped his voice in a vice. "I'll show what you want. I'll show you..."
He stood up, holding Catalyn's body tightly, "I'll show all of you what a true monster looks like!!"

Personal history
William's childhood life is relatively unknown. It is known he was adopted by the paladin Harold Castarck and was then admitted to the College of Magics at the age of 18. There he studied the arts of Life and Death and kept scoring at the top of his class. However, he would constantly fight with his teachers about the curriculum. Rumors also say that William had conducted experiments with both animals and people. Though the manner and reason of the experiments are unknown as is where he conducted them, it is known that these experiments did boost William's popularity among students and staff. Using this popularity, he was able to obtain the entire curriculum and complete all of the assignments ahead of time. This granted him more and more time in order to conduct his experiments.
William would teach students in his own personal classes, claiming that he knew how magic truly worked. He began telling students to more actively use their magical abilities in order to better their livelihood. This cause some students to start protesting against the school system. Wanting to end the conflict, but not wanting to upset the students further, the Arch-Mage of the College of Magic decided to grant the title of Consul Discipulorum, the Consul of the Students. This made William the representative of the entire student body in the College of Magic.
At first, this seemed to solve the problem as William didn't do much for a while and started acting like a proper student, but then the demands began coming in. He began asking for restrictions on magical usage to lifted. He began to ask for changes in the curriculum and for certain people to be replaced. To the Arch-Mage, these demands were outrageous and he didn't even court the idea of negotiating with William; over time, however, with more and more students backing William, the Arch-Mage yielded to talking it out. They met at the Arch-Mages villa away from the College of Magic. It was there that William's fate sealed.
No one knows what really happened at the Arch-Mage's villa, but the meeting ended in the death of the Arch-Mage, his entire personal guard, and two judicars from the Church of Alyna sent to oversee the proceeding. William survived and was branded as a traitor and highly dangerous criminal. The College of Magic was locked down and all of the students were kept inside the College's perimeter. William went into hiding and the Paladanic Creed of Preservation was called in to hunt him down.
When the Creed of Preservation began having trouble finding William, Catalyn Castarck, the daughter of Harold Castarck, a paladin of the Creed, and an old friend of William, told the paladin leading the search, Harous vom Kurt, that she could get William to come quietly for questioning. Harold initially objected, but Horus overruled him and allowed Catalyn to commit her plan. Heralds were sent all across the search area to find and inform William of Catalyn's presence and to promise safety. William met one of the heralds and agreed to meet if it was just Catalyn. Surprisingly, Horus agreed to it set up a proper place for the two to meet, a church in a small shanty town.
William arrived but again reports are shady on how the meeting went down. The outcome was quite clear though, the entire town was destroyed and nearly everyone killed and turned into an undead creature. Then William proceeded to go towards the College of Magic, raising more and more undead, and then he took over the College of Magic and declared himself the Dread Emperor of Endolia. These events launched off the Third Endolian Civil War. Many students at the College of Magic were given him a choice, serve him or leave. Most left, and William felt as if the world was turning against him.
At first, William was winning the war by using his unbridle necromantic power to control the undead all over Endolia; however, his mental state slowly became more and more unstable, as grief and regret filled his heart. Then, in 763, all the undead in Endolia crumbled, and when the College of Magic was searched, it was completely vacant. The only thing found in the campuses were unspeakable horrors. Bodies torn and mutilated, the ground desecrated and shriveled, and hundreds of murders of crows flying around. The Endolian Army found out too late that William had jumped ship, literally, to Jahir.
When William arrived in Jahir, he was immediately apprehended by the Council of Liches, a group of powerful and immortal humans bound to the ancient temples scattered throughout Jahir. William was held in The Pyramid of Bhal 'al Ghuul, while the council debated over what to do with him. It was their William was given a deal, but not from the Liches, from beyond. From The Spawn of Defamation itself. The Spawn offered William a choice; he can either continue to wallow in guilt and die or the Spawn could allow William to live. William, scraping the bottom of the barrel, took the latter option. With all shackles of his humanity broken, William killed all the Liches and took control of The Pyramid of Bhal 'al Ghuul. Over the next 150 years, William would continue his horrible experiments by raiding spreading the use of necromancy and helping start up the Necrotic States and Ghoul Kingdoms, further isolating himself from the world.
. However, in recent years, activity t William's pyramid has slow ceased. No one knows why, but in recent years, The Pyramid of Bhal 'al Ghuul has become nothing but a ghost story for the newest generation.
