Goblin
Goblins are terrifying subterranean creatures that live in vast caverns beneath Olmir. They are considered to be the greatest enemy of the Dwarves and are exterminated with extreme prejudice when they enter the Dwarven Warrens. They are almost entirely blind, have a very simple form of echolocation. They stand roughly five and a half feet tall and are heavily muscled with sharp claws and sharper fangs. Traveling through a dark tunnel deep underground and hearing their quick, chirping noises as they locate their prey is one of the most terrifying experiences on Ashaia.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
Goblins speak their own language, a mix of guttural grunts and shrieks. Older goblins tend to have a crude grasp on dwarven, though it is mutilated by their gravely, rasping voices.
Common Dress code
They are completely comfortable without clothing, but wear pieces of dwarven armor or bones as war trophies, giving them a bastardized dwarven sense of style.
Common Myths and Legends
Dwarven researchers believe that goblins have a society of some sort, with a warrior king who is very old and powerful, but even the deepest mines of Olmir have not found any trace of goblin civilization. Some researchers believe that the goblin civilization must be a myth, but no matter how deep the dwarves dig, there are always more goblins.
I love this take of Goblins. Far more imposing than the little creatures normally proposed. Well written. I look forward to seeing more.
Thank you! Normal goblins do not seem to be frightening enough to be a real threat to a dwarven nation and I wanted something that was a mix between a horror and the creature we all "grew up with."
