Lizardfolk, Desert

The only sapient, mortal race native to the Mirabi Desert other than Humans, the lizardfolk are hardy and determined. Much shorter than their cousins, they have made their place in the world due to their noteworthy honor and diplomatic abilities.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Human-sized reptilians that have spines running along their body, giving them sharper features. In some ways, they resemble the armadillo lizard.

Genetics and Reproduction

Females lay clutches of four to twelve eggs, once that clutch has hatched and the young have matured to the lizardfolk's equivalence of a toddler, she will lay a second clutch of eggs. This regulated reproduction system is a defense mechanism to protect the young in the desert's harsh conditions.

Growth Rate & Stages

Desert lizardfolk mature rapidly to childhood from infancy, but they reach adulthood roughly sixteen years into their lives.

Ecology and Habitats

Cold blooded and able to go long periods without any form of hydration, these lizardfolk are suited to desert living and feel other climates a bit too cold for their liking.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They forage for food, often living off plant matter between successful hunts. When the opportunity arises, groups of lizardfolk will form a hunting party to take down one of the larger desert dwelling creatures.
