Vera's Diner

Vera's Diner is a quaint, 1960s themed diner and coffee shop near the Ashton Creek town square run by Vera Mornou, a lady in her later years. The only other employees are Nancy Sykes and Martin Taylor. It has a very relaxed attitude and the residents of Ashton Creek frequent it regularly. The pancakes and bagel sandwiches are especially good.

History

Vera's Diner was first built in 1954, following a lot of the architectural conventions considered modern at the time, opening as the Ashton Meadow Diner, run by Fred Bauer. It was however shut down between the 1970s and early 80s, as Bauer was arrested for tax evasion and identity fraud. His son, Frederick Bauer Jr. sold the building to an anonymous investor to cover his father's debt. Allegedly the diner was to be turned into a bar or nightclub. However, the project was quickly abandoned and fell into disrepair. It was renovated in 1996 when it was purchased by Vera Mornou. It was renovated in a similar style to the original construction and opened in 1998.
