Coranth

God of Marriage and Family

Where his sibling-in-law delights in the sparking of affection in its bloom, Coranth takes a much longer view of romantic union. He exerts his domain over the longest-standing intimate relationships between two or more individuals, and blesses dedication to one's partner with a stronger bond that develops as the two grow closer together. In the instances where Coranth makes a personal appearance to mortals, he appears as two Astalians of any race, appearance, and presentation holding hands. Sometimes his aspects speak in unison, sometimes they complete each other's sentences, but he always speaks words with warm, parental care. He is affectionate in the most stable and mature way... but not above stern scolding for misbehaviour.

Domains and Flavor

Coranth's clerics are almost entirely centered on the domain of Peace, but a non-negligible portion dedicate themselves to maintaining Order or fostering Life in his name. Although most commonly recognized as the patron of marriage, his blessing falls upon all dedicated and long-lasting relationships between people—romantic or otherwise. As the god of family, Coranth protects and maintains the bonds between siblings, and between parents and children.

Myths and Relationships

Coranth is married to the queen of the gods, Lielle, and with her is the father of both Venificus and Mallean. His status as one of the most active and present of the gods in the Astalian pantheon has had the unique effect that there are relatively few popular legends or myths about him... but nearly everyone knows at least someone who has encountered Coranth directly. He is especially known to take action when he witnesses a bond or relationship fraying, his divine intervention putting the people in question into a situation which will require them to unite and trust each other to succeed.

Religous Influence

Coranth is always invoked as the premier deity in wedding ceremonies, and many a family home dedicates a small shrine to his worship—but this is not where his influence ends. The church of Coranth is often present at the signings of important treaties, the birth of children, and even some trade agreements. He is represented by the symbol of two linked rings.
