The Mavros Guild of Adventurers
History and Establishment
The archmage Wisteria, an elvish wizard of seven hundred and eighty-four years in age, achieved acclaim and influence throughout Astalia during their time adventuring with an intrepid group of allies. Their centuries of experience gradually parted them from even the longest-lived of their former companions, and they disappeared for a decade into the Astral Planes following the funerals of the halfling bard Mava and the tiefling paladin Ros... but returned at the call of Queen Madimori, granddaughter of the fourth member of their merry band. The Queen proposed a joint project aimed at expanding the influence, knowledge, and positive impact of Imori on the wider world: a crown-sanctioned adventurers’ guild that could serve as a research and development hub for magick and artifice while expanding Imori diplomatic relations by serving those in need across the planet of Astalia. Wisteria agreed.Where Do I Fit In?
Your character is one of the many who have flocked to the newly founded Mavros Guild to accept a one-year contract as an adventurer. In this position, you will use the guild’s resources to travel throughout Astalia on quests and assignments, testing the inventions of resident artificer Turfi and earning acclaim and experience of your own. Your contract can be canceled, suspended, or renewed at your own discretion, so there is no obligation to keep the same character all year. The guild’s resources have allowed them to commission mages to transport adventurers to and from quests via teleportation circles. The guild can get you anywhere that’s developed enough to have a full-time mage’s academy in place. These circles can be used for personal travel, but that does require you to plan and schedule the trip in advance. The Guild Hall
The Mavros Guildhall was magically conjured by Wisteria on the outskirts of Hartfell, a coastal town in the Queendom of Imori—the most prominent nation in the Verges. The guild itself is attended and kept clean by unseen servants and protected by Wisteria’s powerful wards. The interior boasts a variety of extradimensional amenities. The following is a list of the locations you can expect to see in the Mavros Guildhall, all of which provide possible sites for characters to engage in roleplay scenes on the club Discord between quests. Layout of the Mavros Guild: First Floor Fireside Hall: This warm, open room in the guildhall serves meals to Mavros Guild members, with lounge seating and tables for a friendly game of dragonchess. No gambling in-house, please! Medical Ward: Guild members with especially significant injuries from quests or in-house accidents should report to the clinic for immediate treatment by our in-house doctors, clerics, and wizards. Wisteria’s Garden: The corner of guild grounds behind the guildhall is dense and overgrown with exotic plant life arranged by region, forming a fantastical forest of its own evoking both Brights and Gloom. Training Pavilion: Behind the guildhall and past Wisteria’s Garden can be found magically animated training dummies, racks of weapons, and rings for friendly sparring. Hone your skills with a little target practice! Layout of the Mavros Guild: Second Floor Mavros Housing: In these single-room dormitories, located on the upper floors of the guildhall, contracted adventurers are housed by the Mavros Guild. One person per dorm, please! Magical familiars and animal companions must be well-behaved. The Library: Mavros has access to Wisteria’s extensive library of texts from throughout the world for personal perusal, found in a demiplane that’s much larger than the outside of the room in the guildhall appears to be. Mavros Rooftop: Atop the guildhall, balconies and flat roofs provide a secluded spot to study, chat, nap... or stargaze on a clear night. This area is technically off-limits to guild members… but the sign has faded (or has maybe been defaced), so who’s going to mind? Mavros Grounds: The lawns and trails surrounding the Mavros Guildhall wind in circles, some leading back into town. The space is dotted with occasional shady trees... perfect spots for reading!“For Mava, we are fearless. For Ros, we are righteous.”
