United Cities Army

The United Cities Army is the primary military force of the United Cities. They serve as both an army in war time, and also the garrisons in the cities and towns. Currently, it is made up of seventeen battalions, each containing roughly 400 soldiers. 
The first battalion is the Warmaster's battalion, stationed in Citadella. These are the most elite soldiers with the most experience. Serving in the Warmaster's battalion is a great honor. Also stationed in Citadella is the 17th battalion, the recruit battalion. Each soldier of the 17th is paired with someone from the 1st for training. 
Each battalion is responsible for the towns and roads surrounding their garrison. General policing, security, clearing out goblins, etc. 

Battalion Makeup

At the head of each battalion is the battalion commander, who has a vice commander. Below them are six company captains, for eight companies of fifty soldiers each. Each company is made up of five squads of ten.

Mage Corps

Organization of the mage corps depends on the battalion commander. Most prefer to have one squad of casters in each company, though some don't hold a high opinion of casters and thus relegate them to their own company. 
Each fortress, as well as Aliastra, have a neighboring Tower. Each of the towers is a center of research in a school of magic, and is where the local garrison draws their mages from.
