Erathis

The Lawbearer

Erathis is the god of civilization in the Astorian Pantheon. She is the muse of great invention, founder of cities, and author of laws. Rulers, judges, pioneers, and devoted citizens revere her, and her temples hold prominent places in most of the cities in Astoria.

Erathis does not take physical form often, preferring instead to wander the cosmos, similar to Avandra, observing her followers' pursuits and guiding where she can. When the need to respond to her followers presents itself, however, she chooses to take the form of a woman with stone skin and yellow, pupil-less eyes. At times, this woman is Human, others she is a Dwarf. Whatever form she takes, it is clothed in long blue robes with a metal toolbelt of sorts, and rolls of parchment stowed in a case on her back.

While Erathis is cordial with most of the members of the Astorian Pantheon, she is most at odds with her antithesis, the Wildmother, Melora, as each counteract's the other's tenets and plans for the world. However, this contention is viewed as less of a bitter rivalry and more of a friendly competition between siblings, and each applauds the others successes, while not entirely supporting them.

Tenets of Faith

The laws of Erathis are many, but their purpose is straightforward:
  • Work with others to achieve your goals. Community and order are always stronger than the disjointed efforts of lone individuals.
  • Tame the wilderness to make it fit for habitation, and defend the light of civilization against the encroaching darkness.
  • Seek out new ideas, new inventions, new lands to inhabit, new wilderness to conquer. Build machines, build cities, build empires.

Holidays

Order's Rise, 14th of Orvestal: The holy day of Erathis celebrates order, community, and civilization.
