Moradin is the god of creation and patron of artisans, especially miners and smiths, in the Astorian Pantheon. He carved the mountains from primordial earth and is the guardian and protector of the hearth and the family. Dwarves from all walks of life follow him. A harsh but fair judge, he is strength and force of will embodied. Moradin inspires Dwarven inventions and constantly seeks to improve the Dwarven race, encouraging their good nature, intelligence, and harmonious existence with other good races, while battling their pride and isolationist tendencies.

Moradin was held in dwarven myths to have been incarnated from rock, stone, and metal, and that his soul an ember of fire. It was said he forged the first dwarves from metals and gems and breathed souls into them when he blew on his creations to cool them. Moradin charges his followers with the task of removing the kingdoms of orcs and wiping out the followers of Gruumsh. He is upset if they flee from their foes or kill their fellow dwarves. Moradin lords over Erackinor, a vast dwarven mansion called located on the slopes of Solania, where the dwarven deity Moradin made his domain, with his wife Berronar Truesilver.

When Moradin chooses to appear before his followers, he is most often seen as a stout, black bearded dwarf clad in brazen armor and mail. His long beard flows down the to just below his belt, and is tied off with an orate iron band. His armaments and accouterments vary, but he is often seen holding his hammer and bladed shield. These he uses to mete out justice and vengeance upon those who would do harm to the Dwarven race or stifle the creativity or ingenuity of those who seek to better the world through shrewd inventiveness.
