The Soulforgers

Though not as strong or widespread as they once were, The Soulforgers are still prominent in several places across Astoria, especially in lands populated primarily by dwarves. The largest organization dedicated to Moradin, The Soulforgers are a group of craftsmen, artisans, and other skilled workers who devote their lives to the pursuit of perfection in crafting.    Despite being an organization dedicated to the god of dwarves, The Soulforgers draw in parishioners from many different races. The only requirement for acceptance is a desire to perfect the art of one's craft, and to never stop seeking to improve.

Structure

Although at one time in the past, The Soulforgers may have had an overall leader who oversaw and managed the different temples across Astoria, with the organization's diminishing numbers this task has fallen to the individual leaders of each temple to Moradin, known as an Anvilkeeper. As their title implies, the Anvilkeeper watches over and maintains the temple's central anvil, which usually doubles as the temple's shrine to Moradin. They also manage the tasks of their fellow Soulforgers, though these days, the numbers of Soulforgers at any temples outside of dwarven lands are few.

Culture

The Soulforgers constantly seek what they refer to as the Soulspark -- the craftsman's muse; the purest form of inspiration an artisan can receive. They believe the Soulspark comes to worthy craftsmen or artisans at a single point in their life or career, inspiring them to create a masterpiece unlike any other. Such masterpieces are referred to as Soulforged works, and it is from the pursuit of these works that the Soulforgers take their name.

Public Agenda

The main objective of The Soulforgers is to provide artisans and craftsmen a safe place to work and hone their craft, free from any judgement or restrictions imposed upon them, whether by government, religion, or culture. Because of this, The Soulforgers often find themselves at odds with groups who disagree with a particular artisan's methods or muse. This often led to violence and, in fact is one of the main reasons scholars believe The Soulforgers have diminished over the years.
