Sehanine

The Moonweaver

Sehanine is the goddess of trickery, illusions, and the moon in the Astorian Pantheon. She is the lover of Corellon and has close ties with Melora, and is a favorite deity among Elves and Halflings. She is also the goddess of love, who sends shadows to cloak lovers' trysts. Scouts and Rogues ask for her blessing in their work.

The Moonweaver is very protective toward elves. She sends omens to keep them from danger, and offers guidance in matters that affect their race as a whole. Nonetheless, she is quite an aloof deity and she keeps herself apart from the happenings of Astoria. As a general rule, she does not speak directly to her followers and those who seek her guidance. Instead, she relies upon dreams, visions, and the like to relay information or guidance. She is, however, capable of appearing in a physical form before her followers, and has been known on very rare, or very important, occasions to do so. Sehanine rules with her lover, Corellon, from The Grove of Amaranthine Twilight, on Arvandor, first layer of the Outer Plane of Arborea.

When she does appear before her followers, it is always in the form of a youthful, ageless female elf clad in a diaphanous gown that appears to be made of moonbeam. From her shoulder blades sprout a pair of beautiful moth-like wings that glow with a soft white light, as if reflecting the light of the moon.

Tenets of Faith

Sehanine's teachings are simple:
  • Follow your goals and seek your own destiny
  • Keep to the shadows, avoiding the blazing light of zealous good, and the utter darkness of evil
  • Seek new horizons and new experiences, and let nothing tie you down

Holidays

Night of the decade's largest full moon: Once per decade, the followers of Sehanine come together for a night of good-natured trickery and illusion. This holiday is usually observed mostly by elves, but all are welcome to partake.
