Sun Priests

This order of holy priests and clerics are the stationary, leadership group of the Church of the Dawn. Sun Priests lead services and act as healers and educators in their communities. Many naive youths flock to the service of the Sun Priests, only to find the rigorous training too much to handle and return to their farms. Sun Priests are easily recognizable in their white and gold vestments, and can always be found where those who dwell in Pelor's grace are plentiful.
Sun Priests come from all walks of life, and all races and nationalities. They are each assigned to a Temple of Pelor, and most spend their entire lives and careers with that temple. As they grow older and more experienced, they are naturally seen as the "elder" Sun Priests, though this is not an official role. These elders continue their regular duties, while taking on the additional task of training and welcoming in new recruits. This group is also the pool from which the High Sun Priests are selected.
Each Temple of Pelor has three High Sun Priests: a High Sun Priest of Life, a High Sun Priest of Light, and a High Sun Priest of Harvest. These three leadership roles are usually selected from among the "elder" Sun Priests who are viewed as experts in the related duties of each role, but sometimes a younger priest earns enough respect from their peers to find themselves in the role. Each High Sun Priest is tasked with ensuring the duties and responsibilities of the Temple -- in regards to their given title -- are in order and taken care of. For example, the High Sun Priest of Life may be tasked with ensuring the health and vitality of the community around them, just as the High Sun Priest of Light may focus on spreading the word of Pelor, or the High Sun Priest of the Harvest ensures that the community will have enough food to last through the winter. The three High Sun Priests answer to the Dawnrector of the temple.
The Dawnrector is also selected from the ranks of the Temple of Pelor they reside in. However because this role is the overall leader of the Temple in that area, they are usually selected from one of the three High Sun Priests. This is not always the case, however, and on rare occasions a younger Sun Priest has earned enough respect to be chosen as leader. The Dawnrector is responsible for the safety, well-being, and education of both the Temple they lead and the community it serves. The skills necessary for this task vary, depending on location, and it is for this reason selection of the role is left up to the Sun Priests of the Temple, rather than an over-arcing Church leadership body that may not have any indication as to what the community in each Temple location requires from its priests. The Dawnrector of each temple technically reports to the Archradiant of the Dawn, however most Dawnrectors (and for that matter, most Temples of Pelor) never meet the Archradiant, especially if their Temple lies on the outskirts of civilization. Because of this, leadership of each temple is left entirely to each Dawnrector, with the only requirement being the Dawnrector send the occasionally status report to the Archradiant, so that they can have an understanding of the status of the Church as a whole, or send aid where needed.
