Archfey (a.k.a. The Morrigan)

The Morrigan—called Amir of Owls, Seer of Seasons, and Archfey of the Unseelie Court. Sie ipresides over the Unseelie Court of fey and takes spring and summer court in the Arboretum. Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

Sie/sier or they/them pronouns

Intellectual Characteristics

Sie enjoys mind games and battles of silver tongues. Sier strategy is to obfuscate, to toy, to feign weakness or docility, then to strike the heart of sier enemies.

Morality & Philosophy

As a Seelie Archfey, the Morrigan is ancient and patient. Sier twisted logic is incomprehensible to mortals. Sie sees humanoids as pawns and pets, amusing and harmless unless they offer something of value to sier.

Taboos

You do not ask a person's name or beg a favor without expecting to pay in return. Everything has value, and you better not expect more than a thing's worth.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

The Morrigan will not be constrained. Sie planned to lure Ehlenestra, Spirit of Sylvanmere, into vulnerability, then kill her. That would destroy the Barrier, freeing sier and sier Court from the Feywild. The Morrigan plays to win.

Likes & Dislikes

To earn sier favor, you must bring sier a gift (books, artifacts), hunt sier a meal, or offer something of yourself—a secret, servitude, or promise.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Whatever connect sie has to the hag also known as the Morrigan is unknown, though tales tell that the Morrigan has two faces—of benevolence and of malevolence. Because there are two individuals who call themselves the Morrigan, this fey is sometimes referred to as the "Morrigan Royale" for sier dominance over the Unseelie Court.   The Morrigan has ancient ties to Ehlenestra, whom sie refers to by her godhood name of Ehlonna. Sie claims that they were rivals, but sie speaks of her with a kind of respect that belies animosity.   Bezaleel, Silenus, the Night Mare—they all follow the Morrigan's Court. Sie rules over them as archfey, like a lord over vassals. Sie expects their loyalty and betrayal in equal measure. Many of sier court are created monsters, creatures who lost their humanity and succumbed to "nature."

History

When Ehlonna was goddess of nature and the Morrigan still presided over the Unseelie Court, the two beings fought violently for control of the land. As the Feywild overgrew the Duskwild, Ehlenestra tried desperately to preserve the natural world there, but failed, and so enacted the Barrier between the Material Plane and the Feywild.

Nicknames & Petnames

The Morrigan stills refers to Ehlenestra as "Ehlonna" despite her no longer possessing her godhood.
