The 1st Army of the Federation, also First Army of the Federation or First Federation Army, is the oldest unit of the Federation Federal Army. It is second only to the 3rd Army of the Federation in terms of time served. While the Army has seen near constant use since the founding of the Federation of Iomhare in 2643 AC, it has been disbanded and reformed several times, most often due to civil war. During conflicts it has served in the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 9th Army Groups.
It has seen combat in every major war the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets has ever fought in, from the 1st Venily War to the 2nd Galactical War, and the 1st and 3rd Federation Civil Wars. While the unit itself did not fight during the 2nd Federation Civil War, due to the original Federation Federal Government completely fracturing, the vast majority of its soldiers chose sides in the war, with each opposing faction forming their own 1st Army, each claiming to be the original 1st Army of the Federation.
At present the 1st Army of the Federation is commanded by Major General Antonio Walker who took over from Lieutenant General James Latimer following the FNV Porter Hijacking. However, this dismissal came under significant controversy, as the Federal Army was widely praised for their actions during the hijacking. Nevertheless, the appointment of Walker was accepted due to his significant military experience and successes. The Army remains headquartered at Envis, where it is spread across several military bases, alongside both Navy and Air Force personnel.

History

The 1st Army was created during the original formation of the Federation of Iomhare, and the Federation Army. It was created from a union of most of the armies of the nations of Iomhare, with the remainder going to form the 2nd Army of the Federation.
The subsequent formation of the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets saw little change for the 1st Army, however, notably, the Republic of Raybia's 2nd army would merge into the 1st Army of the Federation. This merger would nearly double the size of the 1st Army, and it would not take long for the army to split in two, forming the 3rd Army of the Federation, in addition to continuing the 1st.
Across the next 2 mellenia, the 1st Army of the Federation would continue to grow and shrink, and change roles from a purely combat focus to training, before returning to combat. It saw a notable role in the 2nd Venily War, where it formed the main force assigned to capture the Venily capital planet of Emerson. Over the 2,000 years, the 1st Army was also disbanded and reformed several different times, as the Federation Federal Government repeatedly changed opinions and beliefs about the unit and what it represented.
The 1st Army of the Federation currently serves as a combat ready garrison force on Envis. During the FNV Porter Hijacking Crisis the 1st Army was deployed to assist with emergency evacuation efforts throughout the Meakar district. Multiple evacuation teams consisting of 1st army personnel evacuated approximently 37% of all the senators and representatives attending a meeting at the Envien Congressional Assembly.

Organisation

The 1st Army of the Federation is split into the 44th and 45th Divisions, headquartered at Fort Blayen and Fort Kyra respectively. Both of these divisions command 5 brigades, 3 infantry, and a singular mechanized infantry and armoured brigade. The entirety of the Army is headquartered on the de-facto capital of the Federation, Envis.
