Aladran
The Star System from which a Galactic Superpower was born
Two naturally inhabited planets is a boon our early explorers would have wished for every system they found. That they discovered Aladran at all is perhaps the luckiest point in our species' history. Anfieden's and Adiri's impact, and therefore Aladran's, is beyond all of its contempoaries, except perhaps Horizon itself.
Aladran is an important star system located within the Terran Arm of the Galaxy of Astraesto, and is fully owned and controlled by the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets. Home to the Federation's capital world Anfieden, and Adiri, Aladran has played an important role for thousands of years of Galactic history. From its discovery by New Terran Republic explorer Matthew Kingley in 74AC, Aladran was always considered a special system, especially with its two naturally inhabitable planets.
During several distinct periods of Human history, Aladran would be considered among the most powerful star systems in the entire Galaxy, with the political and economic centre of Anfieden, and the not to be ignored Adiri, combining for strength unfound across their rivals. Becoming the heartland of first the Federation of Iomhare, and then the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets, Aladran's history is synonymous with the Federations. When it struggled, Aladran struggled, but when it prospered, so too did Aladran, often to heights never yet breached.
In the long centuries since its zenith, Aladran has mostly been eclipsed in power by its neighbouring Jelran, and the planetary powerhouse that is Envis. The fall of Anfieden from Galactic prominence has only hastened Aladran's decline. However, the system remains well protected by the Interstellar Navy, and attracts large tourist groups, eager to explore the history of the current Galactic Hegemon. While no longer the de-facto capital, Anfieden still remains the Federation's capital in name, granting it a certain prestige it would not hold otherwise.
