A magical phenomona bursts out from the ground, as the nearby ground is overtaken by frost ice, and storming winds which appear to build up the faint visage of a tower within it's swirling winds. Drawn to the swelling cold, the adventurers attempt to resolve the potential problems presented.

A cat was once trapped in a box with poison. Until the inside state of the box could be observed, one could never know whether the cat was alive or dead, leaving it in a state of being simultaneously both dead, and alive.   Upon opening the box, you create a solved situation - where the cat is alive - having survived the poison, or dead - having succumbed to it. No matter how many times you open or close the box again, the state is known and will no longer change.   So question reality thusly; if you can walk across the same area nine times, and nothing has changed, but on the tenth time you spot something new, what has occurred?   The mainland forgets, and the mainland remembers, what has happened, has not happened, and could have happened is in flux, and what is remembered the first time, may not be encountered the second.   Why would a Yaseno family artifact be found upon the grounds of the mainland? A tower having formed as a response to the magic of a winter maiden, bears within it's tallest room, the heart of a frozen plane. Condensed down to the size of a humanoid's heart, to be held within the hand.   Though the modern Yaseno clan gives birth to a line of females with elemental powers, the mainland remembers their history as leaders and manipulators, those who rise up in the shadows of grand kings and kingdoms, to serve as greater counselors. The true pureblood Yaseno is a female, and just as no males have yet inherited the bloodline, no male has regretted continuing it.   For women of such power, it would not be strange for the formation of one alliance or another - and one of the old connections they had was amidst a powerful elemental family, whose frozen connections stretched long back to the crone queen herself. Where their tower and arcane arts had guarded it, the true heart awaited - and would find it's successor.   Though she would not know it, Serena's presence had drawn it's creation, and through chance encounter allowed her to draw upon the familial history and power that she had only known to whisper from within her magic and blood.   Though the tower's rewards for the challenge it had provided to those who sought to claim it were not without value - for there were others with who were richly rewarded in turn, beyond just the claiming of it's heart.
