Brands

Brands are a series of magical symbols that emblazon themselves onto the skin of a living creature, bestowing them with great power. They are believed to be manifestations of the 13 Divines and the only physical mark they leave upon the world. Brands have two different tiers: minor and major. Brands typically manifest during times of great stress or during adolescence. When a Brand manifests, it is typically as a Minor Brand - however there are rare cases where a previously unbranded individual manifests a Major Brand. Most individuals can only manifest a single brand, but in exceedingly rare cases, an creature of great magical potential may manifest more than one.

Brand of the Baron

The Brand of the Baron imbues an individual with charistmatic and manipulative abilities.

Minor Brand of the Baron

No other Brand

You have manifested the Brand of the Baron as a Minor Brand, marking you among The Baron's chosen. Imbued with potent deceptive magics, you gain the following benefits:  

  • You learn the friends cantrip. Additionally, you learn the distort value spell and can cast it through your Brand once without expending a spell slot or providing any components. Once you cast the spell in this way you can't cast it this way again until you finish a short or long rest. The spells' spellcasting ability is your choice of Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma. You can also cast this spell using any spell slots you have.
  • You learn to draw power from your brand to augment your talents. You can use an action roll to a d6, conjuring a number of magical gold coins equal to 5 times the number rolled, which vanish after one minute. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses after finishing a long rest.

 

Major Brand of the Baron

4th level, Minor Brand of the Baron

Your Minor Brand of the Baron has grown in power, transforming into a Major Brand. Suffused with greater magic than before, you gain the following benefits:  

  • Increase your Intelligence or Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
 
  • You learn the gift of gab and incite greed spells. You can cast each of these spells without expending a spell slot once through your Brand. When you cast a spell in this way, you can cast it without providing any somatic, verbal or material components. Once you cast either of these spells in this way, you can't cast that spell in this way again until you finish a long rest. The spells' spellcasting ability is your choice of Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma. You can also cast these spells using any spell slots you have.

The Brand of the Beast imbues an individual with wild and animalistic abilities.

Minor Brand of the Beast

You have manifested the Brand of the Beast as a Minor Brand, marking you among The Beasts's chosen. Imbued with animalistic magics, you gain the following benefits:  

  • You learn the primal savagery cantrip. Additionally, you learn the animal friendship spell and can cast it through your brand once without expending a spell slot. When you cast a spell in this way, you can cast it without providing any somatic, verbal or material components. Once you cast the spell in this way you can't cast it this way again until you finish a short or long rest. The spells' spellcasting ability is your choice of Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma. Major Brand of the Beast

  • Increase your Strength or Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
  • You learn the beast sense and haste spells. You can cast each of these spells without expending a spell slot once through your Brand. The Brand of the Destroyer imbues an individual with destructive abilities.

  • You learn the fire bolt cantrip. Additionally, you learn the burning hands spell and can cast it through your brand once without expending a spell slot. Major Brand of the Destroyer

The Brand of the Fallen imbues an individual with mysterious, grim abilities.

  • You learn the darkvision and clairvoyance spells. You can cast each of these spells without expending a spell slot once through your Brand. Once you cast either of these spells in this way, you can't cast that spell in this way again until you finish a long rest. The spells' spellcasting ability is your choice of Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma. You can also cast these spells using any spell slots you have.
  • Your capabilities for wielding your Brand's power have improved. You regain all expended uses of your Minor Brand augment when you finish a short or long rest.
