There are many different types of dragons throughout Asylum. They have evolved over countless centuries to take on myriad forms and spread across every corner of the world. They are primarly split into two types: true dragons and lesser dragons.
True Dragons
First are the true dragons, the spawn of Bahamut, Sardior and Tiamat, and the most noteworthy of the family. True dragons include Chromatic, Gem and Metallic dragons.
Chromatic Dragons
The spawn of Tiamat the Dragon Queen, chromatic dragons are distinguished by their elemental breath weapons and monochromatic scales. With the return of Tiamat, they found themselves twisted by the shattered psyche of their parent, and many have been reduced to aggressive and feral beasts.
Red Dragons
Red dragons have crimson scales and a fiery breath weapon. They dwell in mountains and volcanos.
Black Dragons
Black dragons dwell in swamps and marshes. The wield a corrosive acid breath weapon and have jet-black scales.
Blue Dragons
Blue dragons thrive in arid wastelands and deserts. They are distinguished by their iconic single nose horn, lightning breath weapon, and azure scales.
Green Dragons
Green dragons have verdant scales and dwell in the depths of forests. Their breath weapon is a powerful cone of poisonous green gas.
White Dragons
White dragons wield a deadly ice breath weapon and have snow-white scales. They prefer frozen tundras and mountain peaks.
Gem Dragons
The children of Sardior, the Ruby Dragon, gem dragons are notable for their crystalline scales and powerful psionic abilities. Their breath weapons are unique among other dragons for being rare forms of energy. After the death of Sardior that started the Dragonblood War, many gem dragons have retreated into the shadows and mysteries of the world, often taking mortal forms to hide their existence.
Amethyst Dragons
Amethyst dragons bear purple scales and wield gravitational powers. Their breath weapon is a crushing singularity of arcane force.
Crystal Dragons
Crystal dragons have grey-white scales and radiate light. Their breath weapon is a ray of terrible radiance.
Emerald Dragons
Emerald dragons are shy, lithe dragons with rich green scales. Their psionics are commonly used to create illusions to disorientate their foes. Their breath weapon is a wave of psychic energy.
Sapphire Dragons
Sapphire dragons dwell deep underground and have shining blue scales. Their breath weapon is a blast of deafening sound.
Topaz Dragons
Topaz dragons are morose recluses with a debilitating necrotic breath weapon. They are defined by their brilliant orange scales.
Metallic Dragons
Creations of Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon, metallic dragons bear shining, metallic scales and an altruistic nature. After the death of Bahamut that marked the end of the Dragonblood War, their numbers have been greatly diminished. Now, the metallic dragons hide for fear of the vengeful chromatic dragons.
Brass Dragons
Brass dragons have scales like brass and wield both a deadly fire breath and a noxious sleep breath. They once resided in hot, dry climates, like deserts and badlands.
Bronze Dragons
Bronze dragons wield an electrical breath weapon that once dwelled on the coasts. They have a secondary breath weapon, a powerful blast of energy that pushes back foes.
Copper Dragons
Copper dragons once lived in rocky uplands and hills. They have both an acidic breath weapon, and a powerful slowing breath weapon.
Gold Dragons
Gold dragons, once revered as the most powerful of the metallic dragons, have both a fiery breath weapon and a weakening breath weapon that saps the strength from their enemies.
Silver Dragons
Silver dragons are friendly and cheerful, with both a freezing and paralyzing breath weapon.
Lesser Dragons
Lesser dragons are distinctly different from their true dragon ancestors. They are smaller, weaker, and more akin to wild animals. That being said, they are still some of the most dangerous creatures on Asylum.
Dragon Turtles
Huge and terrifying, dragon turtles inhabit the deep oceans of the world. Their colossal shells cause many to mistake them as islands. They wield a deadly steam breath and can even control storms around themselves.
Drakes
Medium-sized, quadruped dragons that lack wings, drakes are distantly related to chromatic dragons. They are common across Irral and Okarthel and are highly valued as powerful mounts.
Faerie Dragon
Faerie dragons are not native to Asylum, being dragons that were transformed by the chaotic primal magic of the Faewild. However, they commonly cross into Asylum whenever they can, if just for the opportunity to cause chaos for the mortal races.
Pseudodragon
Tiny, magical creatures resembling the true dragons, pseudodragons are playful creatures highly sought by wizards as familiars.
Wyverns
Terrifying winged beasts with long, snake-like necks and a barbed tail, wyverns stalk mountains and jungles and can debilitate prey with their potent venom.
