Allied Kingdoms of Geoff vs Free Wizards

In the years following the Green Scourge, the Wild Plains, soon to be called the Plains of Ash by its citizens, saw many kingdoms and would be warlords rise and fall, some would takes weeks or months, others just mere days.    With the alliance between the Gran Dutchy of Geoff and the Thyren Kingdom after a couple short, but bloody skirmishes, the Valley of Geoff and the surrounding areas saw a new found prosperity, not seen since before the Scourge. The two neighboring brother kingdoms would sign treaties of peace, and eventually sign treaties of defense, should either kingdom be attacked.     During this time, hidden in the Great Barrier Peaks, sat in the Valley of the Mage, was the disconnected armies of the Cormanthyr Empire. Unable to retrieve word of the empire after the Scourge, the generals held skirmishes to divide the land. During these battles, a force of Wizards would emerge victorious above all others, and asserting their control over the valley, they forced their collective group of wizard to the center of power in the valley, while instating the remaining armies around the valley in various defensive positions.   With the loss of many great kingdoms and empires, the Valley of the Mage, and the ruling wizards, decided that they needed eyes and ears on the greater areas outside the valley, and that one of their own would be sent to a lost tower of a wizard, built long ago. After repairing the tower, the Valley had a great view of their neighbors doings from the Starmetal Hills, and the Tower.   While patrolling the border of the Dim Forest  and the Starmetal Hills, a group of scouts from Hookerhill Keep were attacked and left for dead. The next morning would change the political climate, as the scouts failed to report back. A Search and Rescue party was created and sent to investigate, and by noon they had returned with the mixed remains of the troupe. No one knows who started the fight.   Meeting the new foe head on, the kingdoms would send scouting armies to search the Dim Forest for the then unknown threat. Within a week, a second battle, between a force of over 80 scouts would take place within the forests dark canopy. Few lived, but those that did spoke of a bald man of incredible age, with the ability to call down fire and storms with the power to decimate entire brigades with ease.   It wouldn't be until the 3rd meeting with this spellcaster that either kingdom would learn of his alliance to the Free Wizards, as his tower, and the flag it flew, was discovered 4 months after the first attack. This tower would be assaulted many times, but would remain unsurmountable with the current wizard at its helm.   After 18 months the strangest event took place. The wizard had marched for thee days and two nights to arrive at the nearest military installment, where he proceeded to turn himself in, claiming all his actions were done out of insanity, induced by his then, but no more, fellow mages. Renouncing his powers, the wizard was imprisoned for the rest of his days. Many times would he be questioned by the guard, but each time he seemed to slip further and further into his madness.   With the imprisonment of the mad wizard of the nearest tower, and with no one seeming to take the warlords spot, the conflict seems to be at a standstill, with each side awaiting for the others attack.
