Castellan

A castellan is the title for an appointed official, a governor of a castle and its surrounding territory is referred to as the castellany. The word stems from the Latin Castellanus, derived from castellum "castle". Sometimes also known as a constable or the castle district. A castellan is almost always male, but can occasionally be female.
