Personal history
Ervin grew up on the streets of Carcino in the small two story building that housed the families storefront on the first floor, and living arrangements on the second. Ervin had 11 brothers and 9 sisters, and lived with his parents and their many relatives. The family business interested Ervin from an early age, and accompanied with tall tales from his grandfather about the Perfect Waters it was no surprise to the family that Ervin would develop an aptitude for potions.
Ervin would struggle getting an education early on, money already being tight in the family. Ervin would go on to enlist in the Navy to pay his way through school to become an Alchemist of Carcino. Graduating top of his class, Ervin was assigned to the Fides for his innate aptitude for fixing things as a Fabri (a repairman), along with his understanding and potential ability to cure diseases at long sea voyages. It was here that Ervin met Jeremy and Burburg. The three would grow a close kinship at sea for the next years to come.
In 4026, while deep below deck, Ervin heard the first cannon balls hit the lower decks of the fides during the fateful encounter with Ograd Tusk and his pirates. Scurrying up top, he would witness the death of Burburg, and the utter destruction of both ships as they collided from entering a whirlpool.
Ervin awoke sometime later off the eastern shores of Veluntia, to Jeremy dragging is barely conscious body to the shore. The two would spend months fending for themselves against the inhospitable lands, before coming across a hidden Gnome village in the Gellar Mountain Range know as Middleton. Here the two would find the village under control of the surviving Ograd Tusk and a small handful of pirates. Freeing the village, the Heroes would rest and gain much needed strength in Middleton, before witnessing the great blasting of the Gellar Mountain Range by the Admer Empire that same year.
Investigating the blast, the Heroes met the Hero of Oakhurst - Eclipse the Battlecat and her tribe of Minmus village. Introductions were short though, as within the day the tribe was destroyed and enslaved by the Admer Empire and the flying city of Greater Hrafn.
Fleeing with their new found ally, the three would head for Moonmus Tribe, fearing a similar event. 3 days after arriving, they Heroes were able to inform the leaders of their coming demise, and got most of the tribe evacuated before the Admer Empire arrived that night.
However the fight wasn't over, for while fleeing themselves, the Heroes would discover the true reason for the flying cities delay, a Obsidian Portal had been discovered and troupes sent in. Offering aid, the Heroes breached the Obsidian Portal and rescued the captured Purple Dragon Knight Captain from an Black Tower of Torture. Ervin isn't sure how or what caused the tower to collapse, but believes Jeremy the direct reason. Either way the portal collapsed not long after the Spire Captain was killed, spitting the Heroes and their rescued knight back outside the Obsidian Portal.
Joining the surviving knight, the Heroes would join him upon Greater Hrafn for a feast. However, fully knowing that Eclipses family was somewhere on the city, the Heroes fled into the city attempting to rescue them. While on the streets the party met the helpful Nerrida and the bard Davros, just before the falling and destruction of the city.
