Machinery

"Remember that people break down, too, not just machinery."
— Gregory Benford
Machinery, or the Machine Engine, or Machine Industry is a product of production outpacing the abilities of the horse and the mule. When people began to produce things that animals couldn't easily do, they made machines to do it for them, inventing the first machines. From these simple machines, the lever, the pulley, the plumb bob, a machine civilization has arizen. Later thinkers in Darkshelf added the wheel and the axel to the list of simple machines.

Medieval Age

In the medieval age, people began to see the tradeoff between machines and technology and the benefits of magic. It was during this time that inventors theorized that machines did not create energy, but instead converted it or transformed it from one type to another.

The Renaissance Age

Sparking the Renaissance was the creation of the Printing Press and its use in creating the first widespread Dalelands newspaper known as the Vradyni. This was also the age when cranes first started appearing, as well as the invention/creation of the first centrifugal pumps.
