Krom

From Alexandrus III, Archbishop of the Church of Krom:   "According to the official histories, Krom appeared to Emperor Ellis II in a dream the night before the Battle of the Tiberian River. He promised Ellis victory if he painted Krom's sigil, the Tree of Woe, on the shields of his forces and pledged his empire to the worship of Krom. Ellis complied and easily crushed the armies of the rebelling senators the next morning.   True to his word, Krom is now the patron deity of the Hadrianic Empire. He is often depicted as an old warrior with a horned helm, long hair, and a beard. Sometimes he is depicted with an eyepatch over his left eye. His scriptures tell us that his sigil, the Tree of Woe, represents his crucifixion at the hands of the old serpent gods. While suffering on the Tree of Woe, Krom received divine knowledge, freed himself from suffering, and destroyed the serpent gods with his bare hands.   Krom promises salvation through strength. To crush your enemies and to see them driven before you is truly the greatest tribute one can pay to Krom."
