Marian Province

To the east lie the Marians, which are dominated by two city-states: The Laconis, whose warrior-kings worship Bane and produce some of the toughest and most disciplined armies in the empire. They eschew all practice of arcane magic, which they view as weak and cowardly, and believe that legitimate conquest comes through personal strength and favor of the gods. Nikea, further to the south, is a democracy in theory, but only those who are skilled at the use of arcane magic are allowed to vote in city affairs.
