Draven the Hunter

General Summary

After spending the night in the hideout of the Order of the Doleful Aspect, the party prepared to head out. Before they left, Garen of Font-Pelier formally inducted Erevan into the Order as a knight-errant. Since Erevan said the words of the Order's oath back in Hayward's tomb and was able to reveal the sarcophagus, Garen claimed this meant he was pure of heart and worthy of knighthood. On the way out of town, Precision stopped by Oldcedar's Anvil and got her axe fixed, as it had been damaged in her battle with Wardis Wickson back in Roselawn. Xaroxes taught her some of the basics of smithing before the party left with Weltread for Crimsonhold.   At Weltread's suggestion, the party decided to make the journey on foot through the Techeryan Jungle so as not to draw any undue attention. Unfortunately, in enchanting the Ring of Hayward's Tomb, the Order attracted the notice of Draven Gnash, a Sable Circle agent stationed in Derokesh who confronted the party while they were sleeping in the jungle. He was recognized by Precision as her old handler from her time as an adjutant of the Eloqui Order, but he did not recognize her as his focus was on Weltread. An intense skirmish ensued, in which the party dispatched all of Draven's thugs before Draven himself narrowly escaped after an intense chase. Ciana, who had been off picking berries, missed the entire fight. Weltread told the party that the Order needed to be alerted to this development, and headed back to Derokesh. He told the party to seek out Captain John Foote at the Golden Schooner, and to use the passphrase "this foe is unbeatable."   The party approached Crimsonhold and, upon noticing the Scarlet Fortress, elected to investigate the old keep. They found it empty save for two drunks, who pointed them towards the docks. At the docks, the party noticed that one establishment seemed to be very well-kept and out of place from the rest of the ramshackle town. Heading inside they met Captain John Foote, who seemed very interested in helping the party because to him sneaking into Alcaster sounded like a fun contract. However, he said he would not do it for free and charged the party 200 gold a head for the job. When the party balked at this sum, he said he could also do it for a favor. He offered to do the job for free if the party stole the Flag of Korvallis from the hideout of Captain Bramwell Brink, and offered to pay them extra if they eliminated Brink himself. The party agreed to these terms and turned in for the night.
