Shippin' Up to Roselawn

General Summary

On the afternoon of March 19, the ship that the party had boarded pulled into port in the city of Roselawn, to celebrate the annual Feast of Saint Paloren. As they explored the festival, Ciana and Erevan split off to sample the local craft beers and very quickly became extremely drunk before they were escorted back to the ship to sleep it off. Lethe and Precision then decided to kick back after a stressful week and enjoy some of the sights and sounds of the festival. Precision, upon seeing a local strongman amazing the crowd, challenged the entertainer to a bear-lifting contest and eked out a win. Following this, the two partook in the Potion Game, a gambling activity involving drinking random potions. The activity resulted in Lethe becoming enraged and breathing fire, and Precision's hair turning a brilliant blue.   Around this time, the two began to notice several robed figures running towards the festival. Precision split off to check it out while Lethe entered into an archery competition, utilizing his unseen servant and familiar to cheat his way to victory.   Precision heard the group of figures speaking with the town margrave. They were revealed to be monks at the local priory, and had to flee because the building had become suddenly infested with snakes. Precision was noticed while trying to stealthily follow the group, and the town margrave dispatched her to deal with the issue. The priors led her to a bridge leading to an island in the middle of the river, whereupon their priory was built. Once Lethe caught up, Precision used her newfound totem powers to speak to the masses of snakes inhabiting the island. They determined that the snakes had been somehow deposited there and were able to avoid fighting most of the snakes until the Arch-hoot accidentally killed one. Precision and Lethe, joined by one of the priors, fought their way into the chapel past swarms of snakes.   Inside the chapel, they discovered that someone had been causing trouble and setting pranks around the place. They fought several more snakes, and in the head prior's quarters Lethe found the Book of Misspells as well as a carefully-hidden stash of erotic plays. In the library they encountered a green-clad red-haired halfling named Wardis Wickson, gleefully vandalizing the walls with crude graffiti. He identified himself as a cleric of Tirved, and was causing trouble purely for the fun of messing with the uptight clerics of Or. He attempted to persuade the two to join him, but Precision was not having it and a pitched battle ensued in which the party was defeated by the surprisingly powerful trickster priest.   When they came to consciousness, the two found themselves surrounded by angry monks who blamed them for the vandalism. Thinking quickly, Lethe blackmailed the head prior into letting them go free by revealing he had found the erotic books in his quarters. The party were able to convince the priors of the true culprit, and before they left the room Wardis appeared to them again, seeming almost remorseful that he had defeated them. He gave Precision a lucky charm for a battle well-fought, and disappeared.   The two headed back to the festival and indulged in another round of the Potion Game before heading back to the ship after a tiring night.
