Moving Portrait of Razi Abumagi
"Mother adores it, but I'm not so sure about the thing. It's strange watching myself from the past."Nexali Abumagi, an accomplished oil painter, once made her daughter Razi sit for a portrait during one of her visits to her childhood home. The original form of this painting was the result. When a wandering mage happened to visit the Stone Sanctuary, however, Nexali couldn't resist the chance to have the painting enchanted. These days, the painting blinks, moves its eyes, shifts positions slightly, and even seems to speak, mimicking Razi's subtle actions as she originally sat for the painting.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The painting replays a loop of Razi's movements as she sat for her mother to paint. These actions include speaking back and forth with her mother, smiling at something Nexali said, turning her eyes to look as someone entered the room, quickly scratching her nose, and shifting her weight slightly on the stool where she sat. The movements are seamless and never seem to cease, but technically, they start just after Razi sat down and end right before her mother allowed her to stand again.
Significance
Nexali absolutely adores the piece. She has been known to sit and watch it fondly during breaks between painting sessions. Even before she had it enchanted, she viewed it as one of her masterpieces, partially due to the fact that it was very well-painted and partially due to how proud she is of Razi. To Nexali, her children are even more important than her beloved livelihood, and Razi bears a special place in her heart due to the adventurer's bravery and morality.
