Universal Tongue Sexual Orientations
For many, assigning labels to their identity is a source of comfort and pride. The Deities of the Higher Realm took this into account when creating the Universal Tongue by giving the intelligent races various options to describe their preferences in partners. These terms do not describe the gender of the person using them, just the gender of those they're attracted to.
Alera • ah-LEH-rah • people who are drawn to women.
Byzra • BEEZ-rah • people who aren't attracted to anyone.
Lazra • LAHZ-rah • people who are drawn to others regardless of gender.
Ressa • RESS-ah • people who are attracted to multiple genders, but not all.
Thilsa • THEEL-sah • people who are attracted to men.
Zala • ZAH-lah • people who are drawn to those who aren't men or women.
Observance
People of all intelligent races typically adopt their descriptive title shortly before they officially become adults, though the process is not always brief or linear, meaning that some choose not to lable themselves until later in their lives (if at all) and others may find that a different label suits them better after more life experience. For those who do decide on a label, a sense of belonging is gained from finding others who experience feelings similar to their own. Though more detailed subcategories are often formed, such as "thilsa man" or "thilsa woman," a sentiment of connection and unity is still shared between most who share the greater label.
