Asa G. Candler

Asa Candler is one of the most prominent citizens of Atlanta.  He helped found the Coca Cola Company in 1892 and built it into a juggernaut.  In 1916 he was elected Mayor of Atlanta and gave up day-to-day operational control of Coca Cola.  In 1919, following the death of his wife, he gave most of his Coca Cola stock to his children who then sold their shares to Ernest Woodruff .
He currently is involved in a variety of philanthropic activities and spends much of his time meeting people at  The Hub & Spoke Club where he has a permanently reserved table in the Sequoyah Dining Room.
