The Bay That Glows
On the eastern shore of Boriken there is a lovely bay surrounded by jungle that glows at night when it is disturbed. Any ripples or strong currents cause the water itself to glow. A swimmer or a boat leaves a soft brief glowing trail behind them. It is quite lovely to behold.
Several scholars have visited this bay, and come away puzzled. While the area feels as if it should be magical, no spell has been able to detect it as such. This is a puzzle to many scholars, some of whom believe that the bay is a product of K'Thonim tampering. Others theorize that the bay exudes a whole other kind of magic that has not yet been discovered. Regardless, multiple attempts to determine what makes the waters of the bay glow when disturbed by animals or people or the waves against the shore have been for naught.
Attempts have been made to test the waters here as a component for spells. Sadly, all of these have failed.
Locals have a legend that this bay is inhabited by the gods Minyey and Donak, lovers who come to inhabit the humans that come here, assume control of their bodies and replay their romances over and over again in the bodies of the humans. This beautiful romantic fantasy is simply a fantasy. The elders in the area know it, but allow it. The elders whisper to one another, "Life is hard, let the young have the love and the memories. It is good"
Ecosystem
In truth, the waters of the bay are filled with plankton that are bioluminescent and when disturbed glow as a theoretical defense mechanism. These waters are not magical in the least, nor have they been altered by the K'Thonim. This is a completely natural occurance.
"Your grandmother and I met there, she was beautiful then, and I was strong. I loved her at first sight and never stopped. To me her eyes still reflect the glow of those waters that night." ~Anonymous villager to his grandson.
