Drew first met the Boatmen at the Dancing Fox after being invited by Valentina. There he met Flax and Bob who talked to him a little but seemed more interested in his friends Luci and Valentina. However his ears perked up when they said that they could leave the Navy and escape Fort Worthy with them. He then got very drunk and two of Bob and Flax's friends, Violet and Siciliano joined them and then he grew a bit nervous of the company he was in after Flax shot Bob and Bob punched Flax but not long after he passed out. Waking in the Inn room, he woke to see everyone talking and they told him they were locked in the room. Not long after he woke the sound of a huge explosion shook through the town. They all hid and waited till to see what was to come. When their captors rejoined them they explained that they had saved them from a revolution that they did not want to have to fight them in. This made him feel guilty for being chosen to live when he didn't feel like he'd done anything worth saving and there were better people than him to save. However, he was grateful and eager to prove himself.
He was asked by Hector the following day to help him in the woods with the lumberjacks which made him extremely anxious knowing it was not one of his strengths. However, over the day Hector eased his fears and made him feel welcome, and showed interest in his skills. Hector assigned him the duty of bookkeeper which he feels the drive to prove he can do it well.
