Knight-Captain Arbiter
Knight-Captains of The Arbiters are individuals who have proven their honor, prowess, and leadership throughout their careers with the order. Their rank is granted by a Senior Arbiter after the individual has received a number of recommendations from their peers and superiors. These seasoned individuals might be responsible for leading a number of Arbiters on a mission or investigation, or they might be stationed in a village or fort to oversee Arbiters in the area.
Qualifications
No less than 4 years service with The Arbiters, with all the requirements of the previous rank of Arbiter.
Appointment
A Knight-Captain is raised to this rank by a Senior Arbiter once he has received a number of recommendations from other Knight-Captains and Arbiter Commanders.
Duties
Knight-Captains see to the morale of their subordinates at all times. They are guides and pillars of leadership and honor.
Responsibilities
Knight-Captains may be assigned to a village or fort to oversee Arbiters in the area. They sometimes lead groups of Arbiters on missions or investigations. They are also often responsible for training and evaluating Apprentice Arbiters, with the goal of preparing them for their final trial and promotion to full Arbiters.
Benefits
Arbiters are respected by most everyone in the Atraelian Empire, and many people offer gifts to them simply due to their honored status. Arbiters are also considered mostly above the law, and their judgement is rarely questioned by ordinary citizens.
Knight-Captains leading a group of Arbiters will find little resistance from any sane folk that do not posess their own small army.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Arbiters are granted a luxurious black silken cloak with a golden falcon clasp. The falcon for this rank has its wings further out-stretched, but still far from fully extended.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Dishonoring the order in a great way, such as participating in heinous crimes or murdering someone are grounds for immediate dismissal. If the murder was of another Arbiter, the accused is sentenced to death, to be carried out by his direct superior.
