The Weeping Siren
A clean and busy tavern/inn.
One of the older taverns in the city.
It has a few chairs and tables in a fenced off seating area outside near the entrance.
Above the heavy oak door is a sign with a picture of a siren sitting on a rock weeping, with the name of the tavern "The Weeping Siren" underneath.
In the corner near the counter is a large hearth with an old ships wheel mounted above it. The fire in the hearth does a good job at keeping the tavern and its patrons warm.
There is often a large pot with todays stew or soup cooking above the fire, filling the air with a smell of food that can make anyone hungry.
Inside on the eastern wall they have a wooden board with 5 rings attached to it in an X pattern, with a bucket of darts near it and a box of coins.
This board is used by patrons of the tavern in a game of skill, it costs 5 copper to play one round.
One round lets you throw two darts. If you manage to get the middle ring with a dart you win the whole pot, if you get one of the others around it you win 10 copper out of the box. The barkeep or the barmaids are the ones who must be called over to watch the game and then give out the winnings. The tables and chairs are worn but in good condition. A door next to the counter leads upstairs to the rooms that are rented out to travellers and merchants. The door behind the counter leads to the kitchen where great amounts of food and alcohol are stored. Outside is a small stable attached to the side of the tavern where merchants and travellers can rest their horses for the night. One can often see a hired guard making his rounds through and around the stables to make sure no horse thief makes off with the customers expensive animals during the night. The staff is made up of the owner Grimes, his wife Amber, five barmaids: Marie, Helena, Christy, Lisa and Elaine who work alternating and sometimes overlapping shifts, and the stable boy Jim who is the son of Grimes and Amber.
