He was a weaponsmith in his younger days, he is well respected for skill at the forge.
He is the son of Grungni Battleforge and the grandfather of Grilag Battleforge. Throdram has fathered 6 children, 4 males and 2 females, Zidag (who is Grilag's father), Andri, Fulla, Joldrus, Byolla and Mendwi.

Elaborate braids, intricately woven and interlaced with thin strips of metal, adorn the beard.
The braids are long, reaching down to Thordram's chest, and shimmer with a metallic sheen. Each strand seems to hold the wisdom of a thousand weapons forged and battles won.
