The new army comprised of thousands of spearmen, bowmen and magic users was sent into Karak Lok.

A large force was secretly gathered to carry out Sarathai Nadrur's plans.
The new army comprised of thousands of spearmen, bowmen and magic users was sent into Karak Lok.   The dwarves of Karak Lok were caught by surprise.
Two dwarven holds were attacked and razed by the elven army on their way to the capital of Karak Lok, Kazad Kol.   Many dwarves had fallen to this treacherous war.
By the time the elves arrived at Kazad Kol, the dwarves were finally ready to offer some resistance. Dwarves from all around Karak Lok gathered in defence of their capital.   The battle was bloody, with many casualties on both sides. The dwarves managed to hold their lines and after several days of fighting, the elves retreated.
There was no song of victory as the numbers of dead were in the thousands.
  To forever remember the treason the elves of Annotii had committed, a book was commissioned, it was to be called "The Book of Grudges". It was to record any and all crimes committed against the dwarves so that everything that was done may be repaid in full.   Vengeance was to follow this treachery, the King of the dwarves made an oath to strike back at the elves.
