Ishirðingja (Ess-shi-roin-gya)

The Ishirðingja are a more primal subspecies of the frost giants of The Great Unknown. Ishirðingja loosly translates to "Ice Nomads" in the common tongue, though they speak exclusively in a dialect of giant known as Ishirðin.

Basic Information

Anatomy

These massive humanoids are corded with thick muscle and often have a thick fur on their forearms and lower legs to help keep warm in the harsh cold of The Great Unknown, while this is common it is not present on all of their kind. Their giant hands have a thumb and three fingers, while their feet like many other humanoids have five toes on each. Most Ishirðingja have an icy blue glow to their eyes, and the males tend to have thick beards.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Ishirðingja are omniverous, but do have a tendancy for meat. They often hunt mammoths, arctic Rhonx, and walrus as they traverse the frozen north.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

The Ishirðingja speak in a dialect of giant known as Ishirðin. This is a more gutteral and primal dialect of giant that most whom understand traditional giant have about a seventy percent of understanding.

Common Dress Code

The Ishirðingja commonly wear leather, bone, fur, hide, and other trophies about their clothing. Many of them weild weapons made from the bones of their kills, while those of higher rank weild weapons and armor made of bone, metal, and a magical ice found deep in the northern wilds of The Great Unknown known as Ismalm.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Ishirðingja use every piece of a kill be it for food warmth, or trophies integrated into their weapons and armor. Using the largest pieces to build shelters to help keep away the worst of the cold and ice The Great Unknown has to offer. It is relatively common for the Ishirðingja to only stay in one place for a month or so at a time before, moving on to find another place to make their camp and hunt amongst the various glaciers and desolate wilds.
