Their leader Sylcan Rofiel an Elf f ranger is not particularly fond of people in general and would prefer to stay among the wilds of the realm. His second Agan Rez a Human ranger comes across as a mysterious stranger and prefers to keep his cloak up covering his long shaggy salt and pepper hair. Next up is the cleric of Nyella, Devram Foghide, also a Human is more outgoing and is the most approachable of the group, often acting as a mediator between their group and the denizens of the realm. History
Years ago veteran member of the Wardens of the Wilds Sylcan Rofrel was out patrolling the wilds of the great unknown, when a massive storm hit. The worst blizzard he'd ever seen, finding himself well beyond civilization he quickly found a long abandoned camp and took shelter from the raging storm. As the storm raged on, he created a fire to keep warm and explored the interior of the outpost he was using as shelter from the storm. Buried within the snow and ice he found a chest, digging it free and breaking the lock he looked inside. Amongst the old furs and rags was a talisman and a dagger crafted of a pale emerald green translucent crystalline structure. As he looked at the artifacts hidden with the chest, his keen ears picked up a sound... Footsteps, heavy hurried footsteps followed by an ear piercing inhuman screech when suddenly the door burst in and a large humanoid burst inside and started barricading the door. Glancing over noticing the elf crouched in the shadows the hulking figure roared through broken common, "They're coming... Help me!"
Moving to help Sylcan helped drag a book case over to place in front of the door, knowing that whatever was out there had to be absolutely terrifying to put this much fear in a being this large. The two began dumping whatever they could in front of the entrance, after a few moments they felt they had barricaded enough to feel relatively safe. In their moment of respite they looked each other up and down. Sylcan saw that as the hulking figure stood up to his full 8'2" height, and was covered in tribal tattoos. He quickly realized he was looking at a Goliath, a very large muscular Goliath. The Goliath pointed his hand to his chest and with a deep booming voice said, "Gaumal Thundercaller." Then proceeded to point at Sylcan.
Sylcan responded in turn "I am Sylcan Rofrel, Wardens of the Wilds friend Gaumal. What was out there in the storm?"
"Horrors." Came Gaumal's reply. "N'er seen nothing like em. Tey bring wights wit em. Lot of them, too many for Gaumal alone. Gaumal kill few." It's at this time Sylcan noticed the blood running down Gaumal's massive arm and across his back.
"Let me take a look at that." He said pointing to the wound, "might be able to help." Judging that the small elf was not a threat Gaumal took a seat an Sylcan set to work bandaging and cleaning the wound. Noting the deep puncture wounds in the meaty shoulder, but choosing not to say anything he continued to tend to the wounds and chose to keep an eye on his new friend. Finishing with addressing the wounds Sylcan withdrew the dagger and talisman he had found and began investigating them further.
The dagger was well made, well balanced and looked to be made of Hiddenite. That struck him as odd as its not typically a gemstone associated with weaponry, generally the rare gemstone would be used for jewelry. This dagger would be extremely valuable as it is almost completely made of the Hiddenite. Placing the blade inside a sheath strapped to his leg from the dagger he'd lost on his way north. Studying the talisman, he did not recognize the depiction so he turned to Gaumal asking "Ever seen anything like this?"
Looking over he merely shook his head, reaching into his pack withdrawing a small cask and a tankard, poured himself an ale. Draining it in one gulp he held it up as an offer to Sylcan who in turn nodded in appreciation, Gaumal poured another sealed the cask returning it to his pack and handed the tankard to Sylcan. As Sylcan drank they discussed the Wardens of the Wilds and what they would do from here, ultimately deciding to travel together once the storm broke. Alternating watches as the storm and horrors continued throughout the night, when day broke they checked the exterior of their overnight sanctuary. Inspecting their surroundings they found about a foot and a half of snow and many tracks, both humanoid as well as something else. Seeing no immediate danger the set out back toward the camp the Wardens had to the south.
A few years later Sylcan and Gaumal were patrolling through the Wolf Hollow Woods southeast of Thornhollow, when they came across a ranger who is also part of the Wardens of the Wilds. The ranger they came upon was an older Human in his mid forties following the trail of a Kipine that had been attacking folke in the area. Introducing himself as Agan Rez the sole surviving member of the former Wardens of the Wilds group the Oaken Warriors.
Reluctantly Agan accepts their offer to assist with the Kipine. Getting better acquainted with each other as they tracked the beast through the dense forest, avoiding some of the other dangers of the Wolf Howl Woods including Werewolves. Working synchronously, together they manage to slay the beast while sustaining minimal damage. Sylcan extends an offer to continue traveling together, based on how well they work together. Agan contemplating for a moment reluctantly agrees, reflecting on the friends he had previously lost.
Traveling together for the next couple years, the collectively agreed that bringing along a cleric would be beneficial. Speaking to Ragryl Terbrium the Earth Keeper, Sylcan put in the request for one of the clerics to join the Misty Boys. Ragryl informed them that one would be assigned and would join them shortly. About a week later a younger Human male with reddish blond hair strode into their camp. Introducing himself as Devrom Foghide a cleric of Nyella, and saying that he was assigned to their group by Ragryl Terbrium. From that point on they adventured together defending both the natural world and the various civilizations of the realm.
