Episode 9: Plot of Smugglers Report
General Summary
Last we left our heroes were in the secret smugglers cove under the Abandon House. They uncover a slave trading ring, a sizeable amount of stolen goods and valuables from Dugang.
Deciding that justice would be best served in prison. Instead of executing the criminals they take them to the authorities and claim a bounty on them.
Eliander Fireborn captain of the Dugang guard met our heroes. Grateful of their industriousness and honesty rewarded them and gave our heroes a unique opportunity to meet the Dugang town council to be rewarded and given a chance to work for the town. With the town's request that our heroes confront and put an end to the smuggling operation and stop the Sea Ghost.
An interesting note is while the house was purchased by house Calenden there was no evidence that was found leading to any shifty dealings regarding the house. While the smugglers say they were doing this for a hidden benefactor. No solid evidence is pinning on Calenden.
Some of the stolen items belonged to house Calenden, was this a cover to hide their intentions? Or are they an actual victim too? Hard to say at this point. One thing is sure, according to the Town Council the Calenden family will begin remodeling and construction on the abandon house starting next week.
Lambert met a most peculiar case, a boisterous "Hero of Uppershire" Gilbert Backfoot. The two did battle the way halflings know how, a battle of constitution and drinks! With Lambert the winner he has now met another halfling who vows to be Lambert's rival. Well the pocket change wasn't bad!
The team made necessary item purchasing and questing. Valcore is trying to repair the plate armor and got a quest to kill a "Gobul" for an armor upgrade. Xendros fulfilled her bargain with William.
Speaking of hunting, after completing the entry investigation for the Sapphire Light Hunting Guild, they have made themselves honorary green horns of the guild. Now members they can help on the research and natural world preservation and protection of Auriga. The groups finding of an Ankheg was most interesting for the Research Commission. They said it was unheard of and very strange that an Ankheg made its home so close to where civilization would travel in the forests, most Ankheg's reside in the mountains and do not attack passerbys so aggressively. Something is changing the ecosystem they fear.
Our heroes made their preparations and went back to the abandon house. They signal the Sea Ghost, then successfully sneaking onto the ship. They decided aggressive negotiations to be the way to go about it. Now locked blade to blade with Captain Grimtusk. Now a fight on high seas wages on. Will the captain eat his own pride? Or did our heroes bite off more than they could chew by rushing in looking for a fight? Lets find out next time!
