New Dei Tark
New Dei Tark, a recent colonial development, was once a haunted city occupied by hostile constructs. After the discovery of a portal connecting it to the mountains near Kestor's Past, a joint effort by Kestor’s Past and Aecho successfully reclaimed the city. Uncovering its history as an ancient city succumbing to an extinct disease, ongoing efforts involve translating and contextualizing the information left behind by its previous occupants.
Government
New Dei Tark operates under a governance system involving three appointed governors representing Aecho, Kestor's Past, and the Keeper's Coast Fleet. This collaborative arrangement has contributed to the reasonable success of the colony.
Infrastructure
The city's infrastructure reflects its history of reclamation. Parts of Dei Tark have been excavated for colonization, and efforts continue to decipher and utilize the knowledge left behind by the city's former occupants. The cooperation between the native refugees and the governing representatives has led to the reactivation of some constructs that once guarded the city. The ultimate fate of New Dei Tark remains uncertain, with ongoing developments shaping its destiny.
History
Centuries in the past, long before Aecho or Kestor's Past were established, a man named Raxalaor stumbled upon a highly advanced device in the heart of the Atanya peninsula. This device, now known as a Warpsite, was surrounded by an extensive array of ancient machinery that Raxalaor ingeniously reverse-engineered for his purposes. Using the constructs created from this machinery, he swiftly erected an entire city, drawing thousands under his rule as the newly crowned king.
For decades, the city thrived, with constructs handling labor and allowing its inhabitants to focus on intellectual pursuits, including unlocking the mysteries of the Warpsite. However, the opening of the Warpsite marked the city's tragic downfall. Those who ventured into the site contracted a deadly, virulent disease with an almost 100% mortality rate. In a desperate attempt to contain the outbreak, Raxalaor made the grim decision to seal his people within the city walls. He commanded the worker constructs to annihilate any living beings within the perimeter, sacrificing his own citizens to prevent the disease from spreading beyond the city and into Tehiri.
Raxalaor's efforts to save his people proved futile, and he, too, succumbed to the disease. Before his demise, he performed a ritual to return as a ghost with the intent of shutting down the constructs. To his dismay, he discovered that only a living being could control the device needed to deactivate the quarantine. For centuries, Raxalaor helplessly witnessed countless attempts to breach Dei Tark, resulting in the demise of intruders at the hands of constructs following their programmed directive. Even the adventuring party led by the current guildmaster, Velira K’Tash, met their end within the city's walls.
Recently, a joint alliance between Kestor's Past and Aecho successfully liberated the city, allowing the tormented king to pass on to the afterlife, awaiting judgment for his legacy of death. The city, once bound by quarantine, now stands free, but echoes of its tragic history linger in the shadows.
Dei Tark's transformation from a haunted city to a reclaimed colony began with the alliance between Kestor's Past and Aecho. The city's haunting constructs were eradicated, revealing its past as a city devastated by an extinct disease. With no living claimants, the debate over ownership ensued. Aecho, being physically closer, and Kestor’s Past, owning the portal to the city, reached an agreement when a fleet of refugees from Keeper's Coast arrived. The refugees were permitted to colonize excavated parts of the city, establishing a unique governance system with representatives from Aecho, Kestor’s Past, and the Fleet.
