Mistress Supreme of Ardent

Melissa the Magnificent is the reigning Mistress Supreme of Ardent, and is the de facto head of state for the nation of the Dracohold in the absence of the God-Empress Dragoon, who has receded into a self-induced slumber.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Melissa is a young looking human woman (though her actual age is a mystery). She is hauntingly beautiful, likely artificially amplified through blood magic rituals. Her skin is a mosaic of ritual scaring, and both her hands are taloned prosthesis, evidence of the great sacrifices she has made to obtain power and status.

Special abilities

Melissa is arguably the most powerful blood sorceress in living memory. Her ability to design and perform unique rituals of self empowerment allowed her to successfully overtake the previous council of mages who ruled over Ardent, thereby solidifying power under her banner.
Melissa is also a cunning politician, using her charisma to create devout followers from the masses, as well as navigate Auvian politics to remain outside the attentions of regional powers, many of whom hold a very low opinion of Dragonhold. Melissa's talent for both coercing people to do her bidding, as well as to turn potential rivals on one another, has made her a rising influence on the regional stage.

Personal history

Melissa began her life as a slave, traded on the streets of Ardent alongside so many other unlucky souls. She was taken in as a concubine for one of the aristocratic blood mages who ruled the city, and for many years was abused under his rule. Eventually, she was able to woo him, becoming both his apprentice in blood magic as well as his primary consort after the mysterious disappearance of the rest of his harem.
Melissa convinced him to begin formulating a plot to do away with the rest of the council and become the soul ruler of Ardent, assembling a network of spies, rebels, and blood mages in his name. Once this network of revolutionaries was established, Melissa slit her husbands throat, taking his blood for herself and galvanizing his rebels with his assassination. Soon, Melissa had turned the entirety of Ardent against the Mages, and through strength of arms and the power of many forbidden blood rituals, she sacrificed them all in her name.
Ever since that day, Melissa has presided over Ardent as it's undisputed Mistress Supreme, a slaver queen of incredible power and status. She has ruled the city (and for all practical purposes, the entire nation) for the last ten years.
