Heato Hiyori - a human boy born in Val T'loré. He had an uneventful youth - at the age of 9 he had a thrilling compassion in art, making countless doodles of his friends, family and creatures from the stories he was told. His father Kaneda Hiyori was a Rune Carver, a profession involving the creation of magical runes or glyphs. He took notice of Heato's artistic ability and by the age of 13, Heato became his father's apprentice and began training under the art of Rune Crafting.
At the age of 16, Heato and his father were now partners in Rune Crafting and owned a Runesmith's called 'Hiyori-Runestones' and it was a thrilling business; adventurers from all over Calanthe would come to buy special runes for their weapons and armor. Heato's mother Aioki Hiyori would work the front desk and lead customers to either Heato or his father. Soon Heato finished school and became a full time Runesmith but at the age of 18 he requested to go and work in the Adventurer's Guild and become and adventurer as he thought rune crafting was boring on its own. His father allowed it, remembering his days as an adventurer.
Heato started his journey in the Adventurer's Guild by trying to find an party to join, his rune crafting skills were refined however he had scrappy Leather Armor and a small dull Shortsword so parties declined him. He decided to try a quest on his own, he had to defeat a camp of goblins disrupting trade routes in a small village nearby. In short, it wasn't too pretty though after struggles he did defeat the goblins.
When he got back he was given his rank in the guild, he became a novice and would then go on to do more quests until a band of adventurers called The Whispering Phantoms inducted him into their party. This included: 'Myrin Deadhelm', an elf barbarian, 'Chiyo' the tabaxi druid and 'Serf Rhobahd' the human bard. They would go on for a couple years with many failures and successes however one fateful night 5 years after Heato became an adventurer, disaster struck.
It was the night before a big job. Serf had found a noble, named Gormon Liajor, who worked directly for the Emperor, and his goons, by supplying information about King Strividn. The plan was to break in and smuggle documents which had supposedly detailed Strividn's next move on the Emperor's troops out of the city. This night Heato was having an odd dream, it was him and his friends doing the mission, they broke in, found the shipment and were about to destroy it till they were all caught. Gormon had betrayed them. They tried fighting them off however Serf's contact had hired a sorcerer to help capture them. Myrin had managed to take the sorcerer's attention long enough for Heato and Chiyo to escape to a tunnel with only a couple guards chasing them. By the time they both lost them, they were back at their tavern. However, when Chiyo went in to check if the coast was clear, she was caught and arrested.
Heato woke up on the day of the mission, he blew off the dream as just that... a dream. As the day went on more of the dream came true and he voiced his concerns but they went with the mission and well... you know the rest. Heato decided the only safe place left was his home and so that's where he hid for several days before saying one of his last goodbyes to his parents and escaping to find a new party to help him break his friends out of a prison in Terren.
