Torrenheim (Toh-rin-hime)
Overview
Torrenheim is Avalǿn's largest and second oldest continent. Home of the Dwarven new world, Torrenheim's icy peaks and bitter winds are only meant for the toughest creatures of the plane. Ivory wastelands span 1,136 miles and house 7.1 million inhabitants. Ever covered in oceans of snow, the landscape is unforgiving with glaciers and mountains that reach for the Dwarven heavens. Torrenheim is a place of rich culture - its lethal terrain has fathered the inspiration for the continent's greatest minds for over 10,000 years and it will continue to inspire the generations of tomorrow.History
Discovered around 9800 BXR by Dwarven Captain Tḥörnheimn, the large mass of frigid spikes soon to be named Torrenheim immediately attracted most of Ɏntefæhrne's Dwarven population. Torrenheim's early years made way for exploration of the continent, advances in technology and the creation of the first religion - Vietzcism. After most of Torrenheim's landscape had been traversed in 8100 BXR, powerful Dwarven clans began to divide up the land between themselves, eventually forming the Nine Kingdoms of Torrenheim that still stand today. This caused many conflicts between the different rulers and also different races on the continent. For example, the Hnthnian Genocide (6878 BXR > 6876 BXR) was a massacre against the Elves commanded by the King of Vìgahelm. During the Eternal Frost, cold temperatures hit Torrenheim the hardest, some temperatures even dropping to -200°C in the Darkest Days. As a result, the continent's population fell to almost zero with many starving, freezing, dying in the Permafrost Wars or simply leaving Torrenheim. It wasn't until 5619 BXR that people began venturing back into long abandoned towns and rebuilding their civilisations. Since then, Torrenheim has turned a new leaf and is thriving once again.Government
Torrenheim has been divided up into Nine Kingdoms since around 8100 BXR. The oldest Kingdom is Jürtürath, followed by Thurmyr, Der Khalen, Vìgahelm, Mon Alvir, Hjølren, Argora, Nerym-bralligh and finally Mereth. The rest of the continent is mainly unoccupied.Maps

Map of Torrenheim
Welcome to Torrenheim, the largest continent on Avalǿn. This huge mass of rock and ice is home to millions of Dwarves built to brave the cold. Stone fortresses and Grand Temples dot the land, artifacts of Dwarven architecture. And to this day, marred by 10,000 years of conflict, the Nine Kingdoms of Torrenheim still point into the frigid sky.
