Ironbreaker Dwarves

Stout and immovable, these hardy folk are the masters of the Stonefang mountains.   They are shorter than humans but taller than gnomes, taking advantage of their size when possible and relying on their robustness and strength when not. The average dwarf is steady, observant and composed both during work and combat, yet able to rage with fierce zeal and persistence when the situation calls for it. While a dwarf prefers to plan forward to overcome challenges, many of them easily lose their temperament and self-restraint when exposed to conditions stirring their feelings and concerns.   All Dwarves feel a strong urge to create and love to be engaged in meaningful work. In Dwarven culture the greatest artisans are every bit celebrated as their mightiest warriors and brewmasters. Dwarves have a particular affinity for stoneworking and Runic enchanting though they are somewhat resistant to mana and find it difficult to use it to produce spells. At their best Dwarves are proud, courageous and loyal. At their worst, they are stubborn, dogmatic and cold as the stone.   Dwarves have had a long and bloody history with humans, they have fought countless wars against each other. Forty years ago the Dwarves of the Stonefang mountains were almost wiped out by an orc Warband until the humans of the newly established Valgardian Empire came to their aid. With the battle won King Magnar Ironbreaker and the new Emperor forged an alliance and the Ironbreaker clan joined the Zemerian council.   To be a dwarf of the Ironbreakers is to walk the honour and wisdom of your ancestors as your constant companion, to share in battle and victory with your companions and to pursue perfection in your chosen craft.
