Lord Justicar
Above the Obsidian Council sits the Lord Justicar, the head of the order. The Lord Justicar oversees all non-military security and defence within the empire. The station is empowered to use any and all methods, tactics and resources to secure the empire from the Arcane and Demonic threat.
The Lord Justicar is answerable only to the Emperor himself.
Qualifications
Must have attained the rank of Justicar Knight.
Requirements
Must have served as an Aspirant-Arcanum at a Spire, then obtained field experience as a Justicar Acolyte serving a full rank Justicar.
Once they have successfully served 4 terms (each lasting 3 years) as a Jusitcar Knight and demonstrated an exemplary service record a Justicar would qualify to put themselves forward for the position.
Tested rigorously for any sign of physical, mental or arcane corruption.
Appointment
A hopeful Justicar Knight is elevated to the rank of Lord Justicar by approval of the Obsidian Council. The Rank is bestowed directly from the Emperor.
Duties
Root out and purge any unsanctioned mages before they can cause disaster.
Purge any necromancers and blood mages without mercy.
Banish the demon and the possessed.
Responsibilities
Justicars are tasked with safeguarding the Empire and her allies against Arcane and Demonic threats.
The Lord Justicar oversees their duties, deployments and missions. If the Arcane threat is dire enough, the Lord Justicar may lend their peerless skill to the field of battle.
Benefits
The Lord Justicar has nearly limitless authority within the Empire. They are able to commandeer anything needed to purge the heretics and apostates including any military unit or Nobles house guard.

The Lord Justicar typically wears a set of Black and Silver plate mail and carries an antimagic blade.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
All Justicars are infused with Avarite upon completion of their trials to grant them the powers they need to hunt the apostates and demons. Each Justicar is strictly monitored and tested for any sign of Arcane corruption. If any is found they are immediately removed from active duty and Arcane purging is attempted. If successful the individual may be fit to serve the order in other non-active duty. If the Corruption has taken too deep a hold, they are executed.
