Royal Dragon Riders

The Royal Dragon Riders where a branch of Kerazesk and Spakovian armies that flew on the back of dragons to the battlefield and fought with them. They were founded by Keratus Kranío and served as spear-head force meant to break enemy defenses. In their long history they were seen as the most respected members of the army and devoted their lives to the dragons they ridded with. During a short reign the Kings ordered the dragons to be forced into fighting and tortured them as means to make a larger force, this was ended when a rebellion known as the Drakka Rebellion occurred dethroning the two kings. After the process of training and bonding with the dragons was restored, a process that takes years, and the dragons served once more loyally with their riders.

After the USPP invasions ended the Royal Dragon Riders were retired, only 11 riders and 8 dragons were left, as a consensus of both the riders and dragons, this was not a royal decision but later was accepted. Currently the former drakkas and their families tend to the dragons they rode in the Kerat Temple.

Structure

They are lead by a Captain, who commands the squad leaders, each squad has 5 to 8 Drakkas. The Captain responds directly to the General of the 3rd Army. In the barracks and training grounds there is Colonel, usually a retired Captain, who is responsible for keeping the grounds and training the trainees.

Public Agenda

The Royal Dragon Riders were a branch of the Spakovian Army, an elite group that went through an extreme training and bonding process with the dragons. As such their for-most allegiance is to each other, dragon or human, and then to the Army.

Assets

The Royal Dragon Riders had two bases across the Archipelago of Lavadrakon. One on Ifasteio, and one on Kéranío. Beyond this they had their armories filled, with armor, both for human and dragon, and weapons.

History

Created by Keratus Kranío, the Royal Dragon Riders where used rarely and as a breach force against settled armies. Due to the longevity of dragons and their personality, drakkas spent years learning under them and gaining their trust, creating a life-long bond that sometimes went through generations. This made them both a formidable force and a respected organization amongst the religious. However during nearly a century, due to the rulings of a blood-lust king dragons were tortured and forced to fight. This later led to the Drakka Rebellion, in which elder Drakkas rebelled against the King and returned the Royal Dragon Riders to an organization which respected the dragons and treated them as brothers not mounts. After the USPP invasions, they were officially retired.

Disbandment

After the USPP invasions ended the Royal Dragon Riders had suffered mass casualties, leaving only 11 living riders and 8 living dragons. Due to this to preserve the dragons and their wisdom the force was retired. The former bases were retired with the exception of the Kerat Temple which serves for the care of the dragons and the rakkas that still live and their families serve as their protectors, swearing not to ride for war of men ever again.
